Denver - Feb. 21, 2005
- Groople, the online leader in group travel planning, named Jeff Potter,
CEO of Frontier Airlines to their Board of Directors, boosting the size of
its board to four members, including two outside directors.
As President and chief executive officer at Frontier Airlines Inc. (NASDAQ:
FRNT), the Denver-based carrier, Potter brings 24 years of aviation industry
experience and expertise to Groople's fast-paced expansion. Potter joined
Frontier Airlines in 1995 as vice president of marketing after stints at
Continental and Northwest. He left Frontier in 2000 to become president
and CEO of Vanguard Airlines and then returned in May 2001 as chief
operating officer, taking the president's reins in August 2001 and
adding the chief executive title less than a year later.
"Jeff Potter and his in-depth airline and distribution experience adds
tremendous value to Groople as we enter this next state of growth,"
said Groople Chief Executive Officer David Loy. "With more than 20
years of experience in the airline industry, Jeff has strong, valuable
leadership skills and we look forward to his contributions as we execute
on our strategic plan," Loy continued.
Potter, a Colorado resident, joins Groople's other outside director,
Scott Caruso. Inside Groople board members include David Chuang and
David Loy.
The news of Potter joining Groople's board follows the recent
announcement of the company's partnership with Travelocity, a
partnership that brings group travel efficiencies to the masses
through Travelocity's extensive reach and Groople's technology and
unrivaled functionality for booking groups online. In addition,
Groople recently released its version 3.1 product, providing greater
functionality to the company's supplier partners and to its customers
e.g. reserving a block of rooms and allowing each person to pay separately.
Groople utilizes the most effective channels to target the leisure
group market by automating the group booking process while matching
the needs of specific groups with appropriate products, prices and
support. While facilitating bookings and generating new revenue, Groople
allows travel suppliers to retain control of their inventory and rates.
