Put some Magic in Your Wedding Menu
|
|
One of the age-old problems of planning a wedding is figuring out how to plan the best
banquet without busting your budget! Before you plan out your menu, consider giving
your reception a theme that will allow you play with the presentation of the food. A
fresh, funny or delightful presentation can go a long way to surprising and pleasing
your guests so that you can take the focus off of the food itself.
|
Where are you planning to honeymoon?
Use your honeymoon location as the inspiration for your theme. If you are heading
toward the tropics, give your reception a beach theme. Decorate the tables with beach
blankets and colorful place settings and serve the kind of food you might find on the
boardwalk. If you are heading for the mountains, give each guest picnic fare inside a
canvas bag they can take home as a souvenir of the wedding.
|
What are your interests?
Let your guests share in the activities that you and your soon-to-be-spouse enjoy. Are
you movie buffs? Put together the kind of food you would eat at a film festival or a
movie marathon and serve it in giant popcorn tubs from the theater. Do you like to
travel? Choose food from your favorite vacation travel spot and serve it in a mini-
knapsack or on a bandana in a basket.
|
What colors have you chosen for your wedding?
Check the restaurant supply wholesalers for colored glass glasses or dishes in your
colors. Choose glasses of different sizes and shapes and serve dishes that can be fixed in
large batches like casseroles or salads. The easier the dish is to fix, the lower the catering
cost. The glasses can then be filled behind the scenes and served individually. Choose a
couple of styles that guests might like to take home with them such as funky martini or
parfait glasses.
Your wedding menu does not have to be a complete budget buster and can be the
source of some fun at your reception. Put a little thought in to a clever presentation
before you plan your menu. It might just save you some money.
